Oriental Mindoro stretches population to 908,339 in 2020
Oriental Mindoro logged a total population 908,339 as of May 1, 2020, based on the 2020 Census of Population and Housing (CPH). Proclamation No. 1179 was issued last July 6, 2021 by the President of the Republic of the Philippines. This issuance declared the official population counts.
The total population of Oriental Mindoro in 2020 increased by 64,280 from the total population of 844,059 in 2015. Compared to 2010 total population count of 785,602, Oriental Mindoro grew by 122,737 in 2020. On the average, the population growth rate was recorded at 1.56 percent annually from 2015 until 2020. Annual population growth rate of the province from 2010-2020 was computed at 1.46 percent.
The City of Calapan had the largest total population count in 2020 among the city/municipalities of Oriental Mindoro with 145,786. Following with the next largest population was Naujan with total population of 109,587. Pinamalayan had the third largest population with 90,383 and Bongabong, fourth, with 76,973.
Meanwhile, the least populated municipality in Oriental Mindoro in 2020 was San Teodoro with 19,121 persons. Pola and Baco ranked next with 35,455 and 39,817 persons, respectively.
Total population of Oriental Mindoro grew from 26 thousand in the year 1903 to 908 thousand in 2020.
Note: The CPH was conducted amidst the Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic in September 2020.
