CPI Releases
The headline inflation rate at the regional level remains high at 8.9 percent in January 2023. In the same reference month of the previous year, the index posted at 2.8 percent. Major items that contribute to that high inflation were food and non-alcoholic beverages, with 10.4 percent inflation; housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels, with 7.3 percent inflation; and transport, with 9.0 percent inflation.
The headline inflation rate at the regional level further accelerated to 8.9 percent in December 2022, from the 8.6 percent in the previous month. In the same reference month of the previous year, the index posted at 2.5 percent. The uptrend of inflation in December 2022 was primarily due to the acceleration of selected commodity groups such as housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels, with 7.6 percent inflation; health, with 3.8 percent inflation; and restaurants and accommodation services, with 11.1 percent inflation.
The headline inflation rate at the regional level exhibited a slightly faster growth to 8.6 percent in November 2022, from the 8.5 percent in October. In the same reference month of the previous year, the index posted at 3.1 percent. The uptrend of inflation in November 2022 was primarily due to the acceleration of selected commodity groups such as food and non-alcoholic beverages, with 10.5 percent inflation; housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels, with 6.7 percent inflation; and (3) clothing and footwear, with 6.8 percent inflation.
The headline inflation rate at the regional level escalated to 8.5 percent in October 2022, from the 7.6 percent in September. This translated to a change of 0.9 percentage point. In the same reference month of the previous year, the index posted at 3.2 percent. The uptrend of inflation in October 2022 was primarily due to the acceleration of selected commodity groups such as (1) food and non-alcoholic beverages, with 10.2 percent inflation (2) restaurants and accommodation services, with 10.7 percent inflation, and (3) housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels, with 6.2 percent inflation.
