The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) announced today that, based on the 2024 Census of Population (2024 POPCEN), the total population of the province of Oriental Mindoro as of 01 July 2024 is 919,504.

This count has been declared official for all purposes by the President of the Philippines through Proclamation No. 973 dated 11 July 2025, pursuant to Republic Act No. 10625, or the Philippine Statistical Act of 2013, and Executive Order No. 87, s. 2025. These mandate the conduct of periodic censuses to provide government planners, policymakers, and administrators with essential data for crafting social and economic development plans and programs.
The Oriental Mindoro population figure reveals the total number of persons living in the 15 city/municipalities of the province as of 12:01 AM on 01 July 2024. Compared to the 2020 Census of Population and Housing (2020 CPH), the population of Oriental Mindoro in 2024 increased by 11,165 persons from 908,339 in 2020. The population growth rate (PGR) slowed to 0.29 percent annually from 2020 to 2024. Of the 15 City/Municipalities, City of Calapan recorded the largest population in 2024 with 148,558 persons, followed by the Municipality of Naujan with 109,122 persons, and Pinamalayan with 90,420 persons. The combined population of these three city/municipalities accounts for about 37.9 percent of the population of the province. The least populated municipality is San Teodoro with 19,650 persons or about 2.1 percent of the total population of the province.
