The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA)-Romblon Provincial Statistical Office conducted Construction Statistics Dissemination and Consultative Forum on 09 January 2025 at 3/F Navarrete Bldg., Mutli-Purpose Room, Brgy. II (Pob.), Romblon, Romblon. Local Building Officials (LBOs) of the various Local Government Units (LGUs) participated in the event.

Engr. Dandy H. Fetalvero, Supervising Statistical Specialist, extended his welcome to all the attendees. Despite their hectic schedules, he expressed gratitude to everyone who took part in the activity and for their vital work in ensuring the accessibility and accuracy of construction data at the local level.

In his message, Chief Statistical Specialist Engr. Johnny F. Solis, emphasized the need for precise, timely, and complete data in the rapidly evolving construction industry, as it forms the foundation for the government's informed decisions regarding building regulations. Then, he presented the results of the construction statistics from approved building permits at the subregional level, highlighting the growth rates and trends of projects from 2019 to 2023 and from January to September 2024, including the number, value, total area and average cost of constructions.

PPA-Statistical Analyst, Engr. Jane G. Rotoni, then provided Annex 3, or the List of Government Constructed Projects, which is needed for the compilation of the Provincial Product Accounts for the purpose of GDP estimation. Her discussion covered the 2023 PPA findings and the data collection of 2024 construction projects.

Attendees heard from Engr. Mariel V. Fallarcuna, PSA Romblon's Registration Officer I, on the status of monthly submission of Approved Building Permits and issues/concern on the reports. Also, the appropriate entry in forms and submission deadlines were discussed by her.

Moreover, the activity served as a venue to acknowledge and give recognition to the cooperation of selected LBOs. Local Building Officials from LGUs Magdiwang, Calatrava and San Fernando received certificate for their valuable support to PSA in the collection of Approved Building Permits and for being most responsive in the 2023 Provincial Product Accounts compilation of the province of Romblon.

Mr. Gerald M. Morada, Senior Statistical Specialist, delivered the closing remarks, expressing his profound appreciation to the LBOs for providing accurate building permit data and encouraged them to continue supporting the PSA.

Furthermore, PSA Romblon handed out social cards, infographics and newsletters that contained updates on the activities undertaken by PSA Romblon.
