Registered Live Births in Municipality of Roxas: 2022
More males were born than females
In 2022, more males (840 or 51.7 percent share) were born than females (784 or 48.3 percent share), resulting in 107 males per 100 females sex ratio at birth. (Figure 1)
Most of the births were timely registered
Out of the 1, 624 registered births, 1, 532 births (94.3 percent) were timely registered, of this, 786 births were males (51.3 percent) and 746 births were females (48.7 percent). On the other hand, a total of 92 births (5.7 percent) were late registered, 54 births (58.7 percent) were males while 38 births (41.3 percent) were females.
Most number of births registered in November
In 2022, November had the greatest number of registered births with 193 in all, or 11.9 percent of all births. The months of September (11.6 percent) and October (10.2 percent) came next. February, on the other hand, had the lowest number of births with 76 records or 4.7 percent.
Eight in ten birth deliveries were attended by physician
Of the total number of births in Municipality of Roxas, 87.1 percent were attended by physician. On the other hand, 8.0 percent of births were delivered by a hilot/traditional birth attendant and 4.4 percent were assisted by midwife.
Nine in ten births delivered at health facility
In 2022, there were 1, 484 births (91.4 percent) occurred at health institution, such as a hospital, birthing clinic, lying-in, outpatient care center, specialized care center, or the like. On the other hand, 140 births or 8.6 percent were delivered at home.
Out of all births, nine out of ten were delivered at medical facility rather than at home. More mothers chose to give birth in a health facility despite financial constraints and distance from their residence just to ensure their safety and received proper services from medical professionals.
Majority of babies were born to mothers aged 25-29 years old
In 2022, mothers between the ages of 25 and 29 accounted for 447 or 27.5 percent of all births registered in the Municipality of Roxas. Furthermore, of the 412 births in the town, or 25.4 percent of all births, were from the ages of 20-24 years old.
In 2022, mothers between the ages of 30 to 34 gave birth to around 309 or 19.0 percent births, while mothers between the ages of 15 and 19 gave birth to about 236 or 14.5 percent. Furthermore, mothers between the ages of 35 to 39 gave birth to around 148 or 9.1 percent.
Most number of registered births were illegitimate children
In 2022, most registered births were illegitimate children with a 988 or 60.8 percent of the total births in Municipality of Roxas. On the other hand, legitimate children have a fewer total number which are 636 or 39.2 percent of total births registered.

Live births shall be reported for registration to C/MCR not later than thirty (30) days from the date of birth.
Any report made to the LCROs beyond the reglementary period are considered late and can be entered only in the civil register after the informant complies with the requirements for delayed registration.
DEFINITION OF TERMS
Live birth is the complete expulsion or extraction from its mother of a conception, irrespective of the duration of pregnancy, which, after such separation, breaths or shows any other evidence of life such as beating of the heart, pulsation of the umbilical cord, or definite movement of voluntary muscles, whether or not the umbilical cord has been cut or the placenta is attached; each product of such birth is considered live born.
Legitimate child is a child who is born to parents who are married to each other. This means that their parents are legally recognized as being married and the child is considered to be their lawful child. A legitimate child has certain legal rights and privileges that an illegitimate child may not have.
