Registered Live Births in Municipality of Bulalacao, 2022
More females were born than males
In 2022, more females (253 or 50.5 percent share) were born than males (248 or 49.5 percent share), resulting in 98 males per 100 females sex ratio at birth. (Figure 1)
Increase in the quantity of timely registered births
In year 2022, Municipality of Bulalacao recorded a total of 501 registered births wherein there is more timely registration of births (384 births or 76.6 percent share) compared to late registration (117 births or 23.4 percent share). This indicates that the parents or responsible guardian are informed about proper birth registration.
The summary data indicates that a greater proportion of female births (195 births or 50.7 percent) were timely registered, compared to male births (189 births or 49.2 percent). Conversely, females account for 58 late registered births, or 49.6 percent of the total late registration, whilst males account for 59 late registered births, or 50.4 percent of the total late registration.
Most number of births registered in November
In 2022, November had the greatest number of registered births with 63 or 12.6 percent of all registered births. The months of October with 11.9 percent and January with 9.6 percent) came next. September, on the other hand, had the lowest percentage of births at 3.8 percent. (Figures 3a and 3b)
Five in ten birth deliveries were attended by traditional birth attendant
Of the total number of births in Municipality of Bulalacao, 51.7 percent were attended by hilot/traditional birth attendant. On the other hand, 47.3 percent of births were delivered by a physician.
Five in ten births delivered at home
In 2022, a higher percentage of births with 52.7 percent took place in a hospital, this was a slight higher on births that occurred at home. A health institution, such as a hospital, birthing clinic, lying-in, outpatient care center, specialized care center, or the like, was used to deliver just 47.3 percent of newborns.
Out of all births, five out of ten were delivered at home as compared to a medical facility. The topography or the parents' area influence the delivery location, particularly if the residence is too remote from the city and it takes an hour to get to the nearest hospital.
Majority of babies were born to mothers aged 20-24 years old
In 2022, mothers between the ages of 20 to 24 accounted for 137 or 27.3 percent of all births registered in the Municipality of Bulalacao. Furthermore, of the 136 births in the town, or 27.1 percent of all births, were from the ages of 25-29 years old.
In 2022, mothers between the ages of 15 and 17 gave birth to around 31 births or 6.2 percent of the babies, while mothers between the ages of 18 and 19 gave birth to about 43 births or 8.6 percent. There have been 74 births in total, or 14.8 percent of all births, representing a mother's adolescent years up until the age of 19.
Most number of registered births were nonmarital children
In 2022, most registered births were nonmarital children with 280 births or 55.9 percent of the total births in Municipality of Bulalacao. On the other hand, marital children registered 221 births or 44.1 percent of total births registered, lesser than that of nonmarital children.

TECHNICAL NOTES
Live births shall be reported for registration to C/MCR not later than thirty (30) days from the date of birth.
Any report made to the LCROs beyond the reglementary period are considered late and can be entered only in the civil register after the informant complies with the requirements for delayed registration.
DEFINITION OF TERMS
Live birth is the complete expulsion or extraction from its mother of a conception, irrespective of the duration of pregnancy, which, after such separation, breaths or shows any other evidence of life such as beating of the heart, pulsation of the umbilical cord, or definite movement of voluntary muscles, whether or not the umbilical cord has been cut or the placenta is attached; each product of such birth is considered live born.
Legitimate child is a child who is born to parents who are married to each other. This means that their parents are legally recognized as being married and the child is considered to be their lawful child. A legitimate child has certain legal rights and privileges that an illegitimate child may not have.
