Language/Dialects Spoken in Bansud, Oriental Mindoro
(2020 Census of Population and Housing)

 

Tagalog is the language generally spoken in 9,238 households in Bansud, Oriental Mindoro

Based on the 2020 Census of Population and Housing (2020 CPH), Tagalog is spoken in 9,238 households or 92.4 percent of the 10,003 households in the municipality. Mangyan-Buhid was the second most generally spoken language at home with 373 households or 3.7 percent, followed by Mangyan-Tadyawan with 116 households or 1.2 percent. (Figure 1)

 

Other languages/dialects such as Mangyan-Bangon, Bisaya/Binisaya, Mangyan-Hanunuo, Aeta, Mangyan-Tau-Buid, Ilocano, and Hiligaynon/Ilonggo were generally spoken in 255 households or 2.55 percent of the total households in the municipality. (Table 1)

 

 
Sumagui is the most homogenous barangay in terms of language spoken by its households

Of the 13 barangays in the municipality of Bansud, Oriental Mindoro, Sumagui was the most homogeneous in terms of language/dialect spoken by their households, with all households generally speaking Tagalog at home (100.0 percent). Salcedo, Proper Tiguisan, and Poblacion followed with 99.7 percent, 99.6 percent and 99.5 percent respectively. Meanwhile, Barangay Manihala had only 72.3 percent of its households with Tagalog as the top language spoken at home. (Table 2)

As for the second language/dialect spoken at home, Mangyan-Buhid was reported to be highest in the barangays of Manihala, Malo and Villa Pag-asa with 26.9 percent, 11.9 percent, and 11.2 percent, respectively. Meanwhile, Mangyan-Bangon was reported to be the second language/dialect spoken at home at Barangay Rosacara. (Table 2)

The third language/dialect spoken at home was also Mangyan-Buhid. This was reported to be highest in Barangay Conrazon, with a total of 10.5 percent. (Table 2)

 

 

American English is the primary foreign language spoken at home by Bansud, Oriental Mindoro residents who converse in a foreign language

In 2020, three households in the municipality of Bansud, Oriental Mindoro, primarily spoke a foreign language at home. This constituted 0.03 percent of the municipality's total number of households not enumerated as homeless during the census. (Table 3)

It provides a measure of the linguistic homogeneity or difference in the population. Specifically, it measures the extent of the actual use of a language/dialect within a household.
