10 December 2024 – HINANGGAYON, MOGPOG, MARINDUQUE. On 10 December 2024, PSA PSO Marinduque, in partnership with LCRO Mogpog, successfully conducted Mobile Registration Services in Barangay Hinanggayon. Birth Registration Coordinator Shiela Mae D. Matining, along with Mogpog MCR Virginia Sartillo and staff, and the Philsys Team, visited the barangay to prepare birth certificates for individuals whose birth records were not available in the PSA database, and to enroll unregistered individuals in the National ID System.

A total of seven (7) individuals were assisted, with their COLBs successfully prepared free of charge after meeting the necessary requirements for delayed registration. This initiative highlights the ongoing efforts to ensure that every citizen is properly registered and able to access essential services. Some registrants were born outside of the province, thus their documents will be transmitted and processed by the appropriate PSO/LCRO for subsequent registration.

Most of the registrants are senior citizens and this initiative is greatly important for them because having a birth certificate is a fundamental document that establishes an individual’s identity and grants access to essential rights and services, playing a critical role in a person’s life.

Launched in February 2022, BRAP allows the late registration of the birth records of individuals belonging to marginalized communities, such as Indigenous Peoples group, Muslim Filipinos, the poorest sector of the society, senior citizens, and those who are currently living outside of their birthplaces. This is a significant milestone which the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) prioritizes to ensure that all births of Filipinos are registered in the Local Civil Registry Offices (LCROs) and that they will be enrolled to the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys).
