The inflation rate at the regional level, for the bottom 30% income households remains at 3.4 percent in November 2024. The index was recorded at 5.4 percent in the same reference month of the previous year. The main contributors to inflation were food and non-alcoholic beverages (3.9 percent inflation), housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (3.0 percent inflation), and restaurants and accommodation services (6.4 percent inflation).
INFLATION RATE BY COMMODITY GROUP
Moreover, the following commodity groups recorded a higher annual increment in November 2024, compared with the indices in the previous month:
•Restaurants and Accommodation Services (6.4 % inflation)
•Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco (3.6 % inflation)
•Recreation, Sport and Culture (3.4 % inflation)
•Health (2.1 % inflation)
•Clothing and Footwear (1.4 % inflation)
•Furnishings, Household Equipment and Routine Household Maintenance (1.3 % inflation)
•Information and Communication (-0.2 % inflation), and
•Transport (-1.2 % inflation).
On the other hand, lower annual gains were observed in the inflation rates of food and non-alcoholic beverages (3.9% inflation) and housing, water, electricity, gas and other (3.0% inflation).
Meanwhile, the commodity groups of education and financial services retained their previous month’s inflation rate of 2.7 percent and -1.4 percent, respectively.
INFLATION RATE BY FOOD GROUP
The region’s food index further decelerated to 4.1 percent in November 2024, from 4.2 percent in the previous month, and 5.6 percent in November 2023. Moreover, the slight downtrend in food inflation was mainly contributed by rice, with 5.2 percent inflation.
Additionally, milk and other dairy products and eggs (-0.2 percent inflation) and ready-made food and other food products (4.1 percent inflation) posted lower annual indices in November 2024.
In contrast, four food groups registered a faster growth in their November 2024 inflation rate.
INFLATION RATE BY PROVINCE
Among the provinces and highly urbanized city in the region, Occidental Mindoro had the highest inflation for the bottom 30 percent income households, with 7.1 percent, while Marinduque posted the lowest, with 0.8 percent.
Additionally, four areas recorded higher growths in November 2024, compared with the previous month:
• Marinduque (0.8% inflation),
• Occidental Mindoro (7.1% inflation),
• Oriental Mindoro (4.2% inflation), and
• Romblon (2.6% inflation).
The City of Puerto Princesa and province of Palawan showed an ease in their inflation, with 3.7 percent and 1.1 percent, respectively.
