Registered marriages highest in Odiongan

The province of Romblon registered a total of 1,308 marriages conducted in the province for the year 2022. This shows an increase of 196 marriages or 17.6 percent compared to the 1,112 marriages registered in the previous year.

Figure 1 shows that the municipality of Odiongan registered the greatest number of marriages with 260 or 19.9 percent of the total registered marriages during 2022. It was followed in second place by the municipality of Romblon with 158 or 12.1 percent while Santa Fe ranked third with 127 or 9.7 percent.

Meanwhile, the municipality of Concepcion registered the least number of marriages during the year with 12 or 0.9 percent.

Table 1 shows the distribution of registered marriage by place of occurrence (municipality) and month of occurrence in the province of Romblon during the year 2022. The highest number of marriages occurred in December with 218 or 16.7 percent of the total marriages. It was followed by the month of February with 200 or 15.3 percent of the 2022 total marriages.

Meanwhile, the month of November has the least number of marriages with only 35 or 2.7 percent. On average, a total of 109 marriages are solemnized every month in the province.

Majority of couples married between ages 25-29 years old

Of the total number of registered marriages in the province, about one in every three involved males and females were aged 25 to 29 (870 or 33.3% share).  Around three in 10 men (418 or 32.0% share) married at these ages, and about the same proportion was observed for women (452 or 34.6% share).

The number of men who are over 50 years of age (66 or 5.0% share) was twice than the number of women of the same age group (33 or 2.5% share).

Marriages involving adolescent females were six times as much as those involving teenage males. In 2022, a total of 25 (1.9% share) marriages involved adolescent females below 20 years old while those involving adolescent males has 4 (0.3% share).

About two in every one hundred marriages are late registered

Of the total 1,308 marriages registered in the province in 2022, 22 or 1.7 percent are late registered. (Table 4)
