05 JUNE 2024 – HAGUIMIT, SANTA CRUZ, MARINDUQUE. The activity was part of the ongoing efforts to ensure that all residents have access to legal identity and the benefits that come with it.
The PSO Marinduque team, along with the Santa Cruz LCRO, set up a mobile registration activity to make it easier for people in remote areas to register their births without having to travel to their birthplaces.
BRC Shiela Mae Matining and CRC Alyza Shane Lecaroz provided on-the-spot assistance and guidance to residents, helping them complete the necessary documents and answering any questions about the registration process. The team also distributed informational leaflets that explained the importance of birth registration and detailed the steps required to register a birth with the LCRO and PSA.
Residents who attended the mobile registration activity expressed their gratitude, noting that the initiative saved them time and resources. The outreach effort is part of a broader initiative by PSO Marinduque to reach underserved communities and ensure that all citizens have their births registered, thereby gaining access to essential services such as education, health care, and social security.
Overall, the mobile registration activity in Barangay Haguimit was a success, with many individuals successfully registering their births, for free. PSO Marinduque plans to continue these mobile registrations in other barangays in Santa Cruz to ensure comprehensive coverage and support for all unregistered individuals in the municipality.
For the year 2022, one of the major programs of the PSA is the implementation of the Birth Registration Assistance Project in the country to ensure that all births of Filipinos are registered in the Local Civil Registry Offices and that they will be enrolled with the PhilSys National Identification System. This project principally aims to register those unregistered births aligned with the creation of a single identity card for all Filipinos pursuant to the Philippine Identification System Act (Republic Act No. 11055)
