First Quarter Production of Cereals in Marinduque increased by 13.11 percent
The province of Marinduque’s overall inventory of cereals for the first quarter of 2025 was 8,229.04 metric tons, posting a 13.11 percent increase from 7,275.00 metric tons of the same period in the previous year (Figure 1).

Distribution of Cereals by Crop Type in Marinduque
The inventory for the first quarter of 2024 was 7,275.00 metric tons, composed of 91.62 percent of palay, with 6,665.00 metric tons, and 8.38 percent of corn, with 610.00 metric tons (Figure 2a). Meanwhile, in the first quarter of 2025, palay accounted for 92.00 percent with 7,571.04 metric tons, while corn accounted for 8.00 percent with 658.00 metric tons (Figure 2b).

Volume of Production by Ecosystem and Crop Type
The production of irrigated palay in the first quarter of 2025 was 3,923.00 metric tons, a 5.71 percent increase from 3,711.00 metric tons in the same period of the previous year (Figure 3). On the other hand, rainfed palay also increased by 23.49 percent, from 2,954.00 metric tons in the first quarter of 2024, to 3,648.00 metric tons of the same period in 2025. \

In addition, Marinduque’s white corn production went up by 8.79 percent, from 239.00 metric tons
in first quarter of 2024 to 260.00 metric tons of the same period in 2025. Meanwhile, yellow corn’s
production also went up to 398.00 metric tons in the first quarter of 2025, from 371.00 metric tons
of the same period in 2024 (Figure 4).

Distribution of Total Area Harvested
In the first quarter of 2024, palay cultivation in Marinduque increased by 12.34 percent, with the harvested area expanding from 2,067.00 hectares to 2,322.00 hectares. Additionally, the area harvested for corn production accelerated by 5.47 percent with 201.00 hectares in the first quarter
of 2024 to 212.00 hectares of the same period in 2025 (Figure 5).
Furthermore, the area distribution of cereal-harvested land in Marinduque for the first quarter of 2025 recorded a growth of 11.73 percent, from 2,268.00 hectares to 2,534.00 hectares.

Distribution of Area Harvested by Ecosystem and Crop Type
The harvested area for irrigated palay in Marinduque increased by 4.27 percent from 983.00 hectares in the first quarter of 2024 to 1,025.00 hectares in 2025. Similarly, the harvested area for rainfed palay went up by 19.65 percent from 1,084.00 hectares in the first quarter of 2024 to 1,297.00 hectares in the same period of 2025 (Figure 6).
Lastly, the area harvested for the white corn joined the trend, increasing from 111.00 hectares in the first quarter of 2024 to 117.00 hectares in the same period of 2025. Likewise, yellow corn increased by 5.56 percent from 90.00 hectares in first quarter of 2024 to 95.00 hectares of same period in 2025 (Figure 7).
