Corcuera’s population recorded at 9,021

The population of the municipality of Corcuera as of July 1, 2024 was 9,021 persons. This population count is based on the 2024 Census of Population (2024 POPCEN).

This count has been declared official for all purposes by the President of the Philippines through Proclamation No. 973 dated 11 July 2025, pursuant to Republic Act No. 10625, or the Philippine Statistical Act of 2013, and Executive Order No. 87, s. 2025. These mandate the conduct of periodic censuses to provide government planners, policymakers, and administrators with essential data for crafting social and economic development plans and programs.

This municipal population figure reflects the total number of persons living in the 15 barangays of the municipality as of 12:01 AM on 01 July 2024. It also includes Filipinos in Philippine embassies, consulates, and missions abroad.

The population in 2024 is lower by 1,091 compared with the population in 2020, and by 1,262 compared with the population in 2015. Table 1 shows the comparative results of the population in the past 4 censuses.

The municipality’s population declined by -2.70 percent

The population growth of Corcuera declined by -2.70 percent annually from 2020 to 2024. The rate at which the population grew from 2015 to 2020 is at -0.35 percent. The decline in the growth rate maybe driven by interrelated factors such as but not limited to declining fertility and birth rate, mortality during the pandemic and migration activity after the pandemic.

Sixteen in every one hundred Corcuera residents are in Alegria

The municipality of Corcuera comprises 15 barangays. In 2024, Barangay Alegria recorded the highest population at 1,459, accounting for 16.2 percent of the municipal total. It was followed by the barangays of Mangansag with 904 residents (10.0%) and San Roque with 803 residents (8.9%). Collectively, these three barangays comprised approximately 35.1 percent of Corcuera’s total population (Figure 1 and Table 3). Ranking fourth and fifth in terms of population were the barangays of Ilijan (677) and Mahaba (664), respectively.

Barangay Mabini was the smallest barangay, in terms of population size, with only 305 persons. It was followed by Barangay Guintigiban with 321 persons. Their population represents 3.4 and 3.6 percent, respectively.

Out of the 15 barangays, there were 3 which had a positive annual population growth rate (APGR). Barangay Mabini had the highest growth rate with 0.56 percent. It was followed by Guintigiban (0.07%). The rest exhibited decline in population growth rate.
