Romblon’s population recorded at 39,004
The population of the municipality of Romblon as of July 1, 2024 was 39,004 persons. This population count is based on the 2024 Census of Population (2024 POPCEN).
This count has been declared official for all purposes by the President of the Philippines through Proclamation No. 973 dated 11 July 2025, pursuant to Republic Act No. 10625, or the Philippine Statistical Act of 2013, and Executive Order No. 87, s. 2025. These mandate the conduct of periodic censuses to provide government planners, policymakers, and administrators with essential data for crafting social and economic development plans and programs.
This municipal population figure reflects the total number of persons living in the 31 barangays of the municipality as of 12:01 AM on 01 July 2024. It also includes Filipinos in Philippine embassies, consulates, and missions abroad.
The population in 2024 is lower by 1,550 compared with the population in 2020, and higher by 246 compared with the population in 2015. Table 1 shows the comparative results of the population in the past 4 censuses.

The municipality’s population declined by -0.93 percent
The population of Romblon (Capital) declined at an average annual rate of -0.93 percent from 2020 to 2024. In contrast, it experienced a positive growth rate of 0.96 percent annually from 2015 to 2020. The decline in the growth may be attributed to interrelated factors, including declining fertility and birth rates, pandemic-related mortality, and migration activity in the post-pandemic period.

Eight in every one hundred Odiongan residents are in Capaclan
The municipality of Romblon (Capital) comprises 31 barangays. In 2024, Barangay Capaclan recorded the highest population at 4,267, accounting for 10.9 percent of the municipal total. It was followed by the barangays of Bagacay with 2,863 residents (7.3%) and Cajimos with 2,746 residents (7.0%). Collectively, these three barangays comprised approximately 25.3 percent of Romblon’s total population (Figure 1 and Table 3). Ranking fourth and fifth in terms of population were the barangays of Lonos (2,383) and Alad (1937), respectively.

Barangay I (Poblacion) was the smallest barangay, in terms of population size, with only 480 persons. It was followed by Barangay Palje with 613 persons. Their population represents 1.2 and 1.6 percent, respectively.
Out of the 31 barangays, 10 recorded a positive annual population growth rate (APGR). Barangay Lonos had the highest growth rate with 3.70 percent. It was followed by Bagacay (1.85%), Agpanabat (1.11%), Agbudia (1.07%), Logbon (0.62%), Tambac (0.39%), Calabogo (0.29%), Agtongo (0.26%), Sablayan (0.15%), and Lamao (0.09). The rest exhibited decline in population growth rate.
