Partition of the total population in the City of Calapan, into household and institutional population based from the 2020 Census of Population and Housing with 01 May 2020 at 12:01 a.m. as the reference time and date of the census.
As of 01 May 2020, the City of Calapan had a total population of 145,786 persons. Of this total, the household population comprised 99.6 percent or 145,180 persons. This number is about 12.3 thousand higher than the 132,864 household population in 2015, and 21.7 thousand more than the 123,480 household population posted in 2010.
The household population in the City of Calapan got 16.0 percent share to the province of Oriental Mindoro’s 906,661 household population and 4.5 percent share to the MIMAROPA Region’s 3,212,287 household population.
Meanwhile, the remaining 0.4 percent of the total population is comprised of the institutional population or those residing in hospitals, orphanages, military camps and other collective or institutional living quarters.

Number of households increased by 4.4 thousand
Of 215,076 total number of households in the province of Oriental Mindoro in 2020, a total of 35,147 households were in the City of Calapan, an increase of 4.4 thousand compared with 30,734 households in 2015 and by 7.9 thousand compared with 27,242 households in 2010.

Barangay Bulusan has the most number of households in the city
Among 62 barangays of the City of Calapan, Barangay Bulusan had the most number of households in 2020 at 1,490. This was followed by Barangay Lumang Bayan with 1,290 households, Barangay Lazareto with 1,148 households, Barangay Santa Isabel with 1,125 households, and Barangay Balite with 1,091 households. These five (5) barangays comprised 17.5 percent share to the total number of households in the city.

Barangay San Vicente Central has the least number of households in the city
Meanwhile, Barangay San Vicente Central (Pob.) had the least number of households at 104. This was followed by Barangay San Vicente South (Pob.) with 115 households, Barangay Panggalaan with 127 households, Barangay San Vicente North (Pob.) with 140 households, and Barangay San Vicente West (Pob.) with 143 households. Together with other six (6) barangays within the city, as shown in Figure 3, their total number of households as of 01 May 2020 were below 200.

Average household size declines to 4.1 persons in 2020
The average household size (AHS) of the City of Calapan decreased from 4.3 persons in 2015 to 4.1 persons in 2020. In 2010, there were 4.5 persons, on the average, per household.

Barangay Panggalaan posted the highest AHS of 4.7 persons in the City of Calapan in 2020 and was closely followed by Barangay Malad with AHS of 4.6 persons. Moreover, Barangays Buhuan, Camansihan and Canubing II, each had 4.5 persons per household, on the average. On the other hand, Barangay Santa Maria Village got the lowest AHS of 3.5 persons, and was followed by Barangay San Vicente Central (Pob.) with an average of 3.6 persons per household.
