14 AUGUST 2024 – MARINDUQUE PROVINCIAL STATISTICAL OFFICE. The PSA-Marinduque Provincial Statistical Office (PSO) convened a press briefing to disclose the most recent inflation report affecting the province for the month of July. The event took place at the Marinduque Provincial Statistical Office in Boac, Marinduque, on 14 August 2024.
During the press briefing, Chief Statistical Specialist, Ms. Gemma N. Opis, reported a 1.0 percent increase in headline inflation within the province for July, averaging at 1.3 percent from January to July. The report highlighted that the increase in inflation was primarily influenced by rising prices in categories of food and non-alcoholic beverages, clothing and footwear, and healthcare.
Meanwhile, the purchasing power of the peso remained at P0.77. This depreciation in purchasing power highlights the impact of inflation on consumers' ability to buy goods and services.
The event wrapped up with an engaging Q&A session, where attendees, including representatives from local government agencies, the press and the public, were able to raise their concerns regarding the topics.
Overall, the event underscored the vital role of transparent communication and data-driven decision-making in navigating economic uncertainties. The PSA-Marinduque Provincial Statistical Office remains dedicated to its mission of delivering accurate and relevant statistical information for the benefit of the province and its residents.
