The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Marinduque Provincial Statistical Office (PSO) recently completed the April 2024 round of the Survey of Retail Prices of Selected Commodities and Services for the Generation of Consumer Price Index (CPI). The survey was conducted in two phases: the first from April 1-5, 2024, and the second from April 15-17, 2024.
The data collected during these two phases will be crucial in determining the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for the province, which plays a significant role in measuring inflation and the overall cost of living for residents. The PSA-Marinduque PSO team meticulously gathered information on the prices of various essential commodities and services, ranging from food items to transportation costs, retail prices and other pertinent marketing information.
By analyzing this data, economists and policymakers will gain valuable insights into current economic situation in Marinduque. The CPI calculated based on this survey will not only provide an overview of price trends but will also help in making informed decisions regarding economic policies and resource allocation.
To carry out the data collection on the prices of specific goods and services, the PSA-Marinduque PSO enlisted six Statistical Researchers (SRs). These SRs have visited six assigned outlets situated throughout the province for this purpose.
