The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Marinduque Provincial Statistical Office (PSO) successfully conducted the February 2024 Monthly Palay and Corn Situation Reporting System (MPCSRS), from, 02 to 07 February 2024. The PSA's authority and mandate to conduct this survey emanates from Republic Act (RA) 10625, or the Philippine Statistical Act of 2013, which authorizes the PSA to prepare and conduct surveys and periodic censuses on various sectors of the economy.
The MPCSRS is a monitoring system of the growing conditions and actual plantings of palay and corn. It aims to update the palay and corn estimates of the current quarter based on standing crop, as well as estimates for the next quarter based on planting intentions of farming households.
PSA-Marinduque hired two Statistical Researchers (SRs) to conduct personal interviews in 79 sample palay-farming households from selected barangays across the province which includes Bangbang, Gasan, Janagdong, Mogpog, Maharlika Pob., Santa Cruz, Bonliw and Kay Duke, Torrijos. Along with this, there are also 58 sample corn-farming households from selected barangays across the province which includes Ogbac, Boac, Tungib-Lipata and Malbog, Buenavista, and Maniwaya, Santa Cruz.
In line with this, the sample palay and corn farming households are encouraged to participate in this nationwide undertaking by providing the accurate and necessary information.
Pursuant to Section 19 of Republic Act (RA) No. 10173, known as the “Data Privacy Act of 2012,” all information that will be gathered will be treated with utmost confidentiality. Further, Section 26 of RA No. 10625 also stipulates that “individual data furnished by a respondent to statistical inquiries, surveys, and censuses conducted by the PSA shall be considered privileged communication and as such shall be inadmissible as evidence in any proceeding.”
