May 20, 2025 – Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro – The Philippine Statistics Authority – MIMAROPA expresses its strong support for Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Memorandum No. 2025-012, which reiterates the mandatory acceptance of all recognized formats of the Philippine National ID by all BSP-Supervised Financial Institutions (BSFIs), in accordance with Republic Act No. 11055 or the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) Act and its Revised Implementing Rules and Regulations (RIRR).

Under the said BSP Memorandum, financial institutions are reminded that the Philippine National ID—whether in physical card, paper form, or digital format—is valid and sufficient proof of identity in all financial transactions. Once presented, no additional ID should be required from the client.

PSA MIMAROPA welcomes this initiative as it reinforces the integrity of the National ID and promotes its uniform acceptance across all sectors, particularly in the banking and finance industries.

In line with this development, PSA MIMAROPA urges all BSFIs in the region to make full use of PhilSys authentication platforms to verify and authenticate the identity of their clients securely and efficiently:

•National ID Check – An online tool for validating the authenticity of National ID credentials: https://everify.gov.ph/check

•PhilSys eVerify – A digital platform for real-time identity authentication by integrating with the National ID system: https://everify.gov.ph

The use of these tools not only enhances the security of financial transactions, but also helps institutions comply with national standards in identity verification and aligns with the government’s broader goal of promoting the widespread and consistent use of the National ID.
