PRESS RELEASE
PSA Oriental Mindoro Conducts February 2024 Monthly Palay and Corn Situation Report (MPCSR)
The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Oriental Mindoro will conduct data collection for the Monthly Palay and Corn Situation Report (MPCSR) in February 2024. This survey is in accordance with Republic Act (RA) No. 10625 or the Philippine Statistical Act of 2013, which authorizes the PSA to prepare and conduct periodic censuses on various sectors of economy, and Executive Order No. 352 mandating the conduct of the survey every month.
The MPCSR primarily aims to update the estimates of the current quarter based on standing crop on area and production of palay and corn across the country. Such estimates are subject to changes depending on weather conditions, inputs and outputs, prices, and other factors which contribute largely to the deviations of the actual data from the early estimates. A close monitoring of the growing conditions of the crop is deemed necessary.
The said survey is conducted during the first five days of the month, in between the Palay Production Survey (PPS) rounds, specifically, in the months of February, March, May, June, August, September, and November.
Four statistical researchers (SRs) will be involved in the conduct of data collection for the February round of MPCSR from 01 to 05 February, 2024. The hired SRs will undergo a one-day training, and right after, the field data collection will be conducted for five days, followed by manual editing and computerized data processing.
In the province of Oriental Mindoro, there are 140 sample households to be interviewed for MPCSR located in the municipalities of Bulalacao, Roxas, Bongabong, Gloria, Pinamalayan and Naujan.
The PSA is committed to deliver relevant and reliable statistics. Hence, the agency encourages the public, especially the sample households, to participate in the various censuses and surveys conducted by the PSA. The agency also assures that all collected personal information is processed in accordance with the law and other issuances.
