08 November 2024 – MOGPOG, MARINDUQUE. The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Marinduque Provincial Statistical Office recently conducted a specialized workshop titled "Introduction to Time Series and Forecasting and Mastering Data Management: A Guide to Google Sheets and MS Excel." This initiative aimed to enhance the data handling and analytical skills of PSA staff, enabling them to utilize advanced tools for statistical analysis and forecasting.
The program opened with a message from Mr. Orlando L. Mercene, Supervising Statistical Specialist, who highlighted the critical role of statistical tools and effective data management in producing high-quality insights that support evidence-based policymaking.
Senior Statistical Specialist Ms. Imelda M. Miciano facilitated the session on "Introduction to Time Series and Forecasting." Participants learned key forecasting concepts, the fundamentals of time series data, and the basics of EViews—a software widely used for statistical and economic analysis. This session laid the groundwork for predictive analysis, helping participants understand trends and make informed, data-driven decisions.
The afternoon continued with "Mastering Data Management: A Guide to Google Sheets and MS Excel," led by Ms. Maria Baby Jane M. Sualog, Statistical Specialist II, and Ms. Michelle M. Macutong, Registration Officer I. This interactive segment provided hands-on training in data organization, efficient data manipulation, and advanced data analysis techniques within Google Sheets and MS Excel, enhancing the participants' ability to work with large datasets effectively.
Ms. Ginalyn M. Muhi, Registration Officer II, concluded the event with closing remarks, encouraging participants to apply their newly acquired skills in their daily work to elevate data quality and efficiency in statistical reporting.
