12 February 2025 – Santa Cruz, Marinduque. In a heartfelt celebration of the 35th Civil Registration Month, the Philippine Statistics Authority Provincial Statistical Office (PSA PSO) Marinduque organized a special event dedicated to the senior citizens of Barangay Bagong Silang, Santa Cruz. This initiative, which underscores the essential role of civil registration in securing citizens' rights and access to vital services, aligns with this year’s theme: “Building a Resilient, Agile, and Future-Fit Civil Registry and Vital Statistics System.”
Recognizing the invaluable contributions of the elderly to the community, PSA PSO Marinduque, in collaboration with Local Government Unit (LGU) and Local Civil Registry Office (LCRO) of Santa Cruz, spearheaded a meaningful gift-giving activity to honor and appreciate the senior citizens of Barangay Bagong Silang. Beyond this gesture of gratitude, the event served as a crucial platform for raising awareness about the importance of maintaining updated civil records, such as birth and marriage certificates—documents that are essential for accessing government benefits, including healthcare services, pensions, and social security programs.
Throughout the event, PSA PSO Marinduque emphasized that civil registration is not merely a legal formality but a fundamental right that directly impacts individuals’ access to essential services. The office also highlighted its ongoing commitment to digital transformation, ensuring that civil registration services remain efficient, accessible, and responsive to the evolving needs of the public, particularly senior citizens who may face challenges in document retrieval and verification.
As part of its broader mission, PSA continues to enhance its civil registry and vital statistics systems, reinforcing efforts to build a resilient and future-ready infrastructure that safeguards every Filipino’s legal identity and rights. The success of this event reaffirms the agency’s dedication to bringing civil registration services closer to communities, empowering individuals, and fostering a more inclusive society.
Through initiatives like this, PSA remains steadfast in its advocacy for a strengthened civil registration system that ensures no one is left behind—especially the elderly, who deserve recognition, care, and access to the services they rightfully deserve.
