20 January 2025 – MARINDUQUE PROVINCIAL STATISTICAL OFFICE. The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Marinduque Provincial Statistical Office has successfully conducted the Retail Price Survey (RPS) for January 2025. This essential initiative ensures up-to-date monitoring of inflation trends and helps gauge the movement of prices in the local economy.
Carried out over two phases—January 1-5 and January 15-19—the survey involved six committed Statistical Researchers (SRs) visiting a variety of retail establishments across Marinduque. They gathered data on the current prices of key commodities, including food, transportation, housing, and healthcare services. The data collected is integral to updating the Consumer Price Index (CPI), which reflects the average change in the prices of goods and services over time and is a crucial indicator for monitoring inflation.

The results of the survey are carefully analyzed to gain insights into the economic well-being of Marinduque households. These insights serve as a foundation for policymakers to design effective strategies aimed at stabilizing prices, managing inflation, and protecting consumers from unexpected price hikes.

This latest RPS underscores the PSA’s dedication to delivering accurate and timely data, vital for shaping fiscal and economic policies that promote growth and resilience.
