MARINDUQUE PROVINCIAL STATISTICAL OFFICE. The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Marinduque Provincial Statistical Office (PSO) is currently conducting the Quarterly Commercial Fisheries Survey (QCFS) and Quarterly Municipal Fisheries Survey (QMFS), from
January 6, 2025 to March 28, 2025.

The QCFS and QMFS are fisheries subsectors’ surveys that differ in the scope of their operations. The QCFS focuses on fishing activities in marine waters more than 15 kilometers from shore, using boats over three gross tons, while the QMFS operates in waters up to 15 kilometers from shore, utilizing boats of three gross tons or less. These surveys collect data on the volume and price of species unloaded at commercial and municipal landing centers, along with information on gear, fishing effort, and fishing grounds. Its goal is to generate data on the volume and value of municipal fisheries production by species at provincial, regional, and national levels. 

In Marinduque, there are three traditional landing centers from selected barangays across the province for the Quarterly Commercial Fisheries Survey (QCFS); and twelve traditional landing centers from selected barangays across the province for the Quarterly Municipal Fisheries Survey (QMFS), where fisherfolks can unload and trade their catch or dock boats without fees. Nine Statistical Researchers (SRs) were hired to conduct personal interviews from qualified fisherfolks.

According to Section 19 of Republic Act No. 10173, the “Data Privacy Act of 2012,” all collected information will be kept strictly confidential. Additionally, Section 26 of RA No. 10625 states that individual data provided to the PSA for statistical inquiries, surveys, and censuses is considered privileged communication and cannot be used as evidence in any legal proceedings.
