MARINDUQUE PROVINCIAL STATISTICAL OFFICE. The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Marinduque Provincial Statistical Office (PSO) is currently conducting the Quarterly Commercial Fisheries Survey (QCFS) and Quarterly Municipal Fisheries Survey (QMFS) from April 1, 2025 to June 28, 2025.

These surveys gather accurate and timely data on the volume and value of fish caught in different fishing operations across the province. The results are intended to support the creation of policies that encourage sustainable fishing and help improve the livelihoods of people who rely on the fisheries sector.

The QCFS focuses on commercial fishing activities conducted beyond 15 kilometers from the coastline, utilizing vessels exceeding three gross tons. Meanwhile, the QMFS covers fishing operations within 15 kilometers of the shoreline, using boats with three gross tons or less.

Marinduque has thirteen sample traditional landing centers from selected barangays across the province. Three traditional landing centers are samples for the QCFS and ten sample traditional landing centers for the QMFS, where fisherfolk can unload their catch, trade, or dock their boats free of charge. 

To ensure accurate and reliable data collection, nine Statistical Researchers (SRs) were hired to conduct face-to-face interviews with qualified fisherfolks. 

Under Section 19 of Republic Act No. 10173, also known as the “Data Privacy Act of 2012,” all gathered information will be treated with strict confidentiality. Furthermore, Section 26 of Republic Act No. 10625 provides that personal data submitted to the PSA for statistical purposes, such as surveys, inquiries, and censuses, is considered privileged communication and not allowed as evidence in any legal proceeding.
