10 JANUARY 2025 – CABUGAO, GASAN, MARINDUQUE. PSA PSO Marinduque, in coordination with LCRO Gasan, successfully completed Mobile Registration Services for BRAP at the barangay hall of Barangay Cabugao, Gasan, on 10 January 2025.

Before the official registration process began, BRC Shiela Mae D. Matining provided an informative session on the procedures for delayed registration under the Birth Registration Assistance Project (BRAP). Additionally, Gasan LCRO staff Jazzen Salazar offered valuable insights into the specific requirements and steps involved in the regular delayed registration process. Cabugao Punong Barangay Leandro Ilao, who was present during the event, expressed his full support to the success of the initiative. The focus of the event was to assist individuals who lacked birth certificates in securing official registration.  The team also provided free consultations to address and correct any inaccuracies in existing civil registry documents, ensuring that the information on record was accurate and up to date.

Participants in the event were primarily from Barangays Cabugao and Tapuyan. As a result of the event, Certificates of Live Birth (COLBs) for six individuals were successfully processed and prepared after they completed the necessary documentation for delayed registration.

Overall, the initiative was highly appreciated by the community, as it provided an essential service to individuals who had previously encountered barriers to obtaining vital civil registry documents. The positive feedback from the participants highlighted the importance of the event, which enabled them to secure legal recognition and access to various social services that require proper civil documentation. The collaboration between local officials, the BRC, and LCRO staff played a pivotal role in making this activity a success and in fostering greater awareness of the importance of timely birth registration.

This undertaking is a joint project of PSA Marinduque, PSA RSSO-MIMAROPA and Gasan LGU. This project aims to increase the level of civil registration especially in marginalized communities such as those belonging to the Indigenous Peoples, Muslim Filipinos, and the poorest sector in the country and ensuring that they have their PhilIDs issued which is a gateway for them to claim their social benefits and legal identities.
