20 February 2025 – SANTA CRUZ, MARINDUQUE. The Philippine Statistics Authority Provincial Statistical Office (PSA PSO) Marinduque, in collaboration with the Municipal Civil Registrars (MCRs) of the province, actively participated in the Symposium on Civil Registration for District 4, hosted by the Local Civil Registry Office (LCRO) of Santa Cruz, led by Municipal Civil Registrar Ms. Ermelinda R. Rey-Recaña at Barangay Tagum, Santa Cruz, Marinduque.

The event gathered local officials, including Barangay Health Workers (BHWs), Barangay Counselors (Committee on Social Welfare & Community Development), and Barangay Secretaries from six barangays: Tagum, Angas, Tamayo, Morales, Alobo, and Biga. The symposium emphasized the critical role of civil registration in governance, public administration, and the efficient delivery of social services.

The six Municipal Civil Registrars discussed the importance of accurate and timely civil registration in ensuring citizens’ access to fundamental rights and government services. The discussion covered key topics such as birth registration, marriage registration, and death registration, highlighting their legal implications and the benefits they provide to individuals and communities.

Adding an interactive element to the symposium, a civil registration quiz was conducted by RO II Ginalyn Muhi and RO I Mary Michelle Macutong to test and enhance participants’ knowledge of the subject. This engaging activity encouraged greater awareness and understanding of the registration processes among barangay officials and community representatives.

The PSA PSO Marinduque, together with the MCRs, remains committed to strengthening civil registration awareness and accessibility throughout the province.
