30 July 2025 – ROMBLON, PHILIPPINES. The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) – Romblon Provincial Statistical Office is set to conduct the 2025 National Migration Survey (NMS) as part of a nationwide initiative to gather comprehensive data on migration patterns in the country. The NMS is being implemented under the authority of Republic Act No. 10625, otherwise known as the Philippine Statistical Act of 2013, which mandates PSA to collect, compile, and analyze statistical information for policy and development planning.

The 2025 NMS is the second nationwide migration survey following its first implementation in 2018 by the University of the Philippines Population Institute (UPPI) in partnership with PSA. This year’s survey aims to update and expand data on internal and international migration in the Philippines, focusing on the volume, trends, and types of migration, characteristics of migrants and their households, reasons for moving, including employment, education, family, and conflict and the social and economic impacts of migration on communities and households.

In preparation for the survey’s field operations, PSA Romblon is currently attending the Second Level Training from 28 July to 01 August 2025 in Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro together with the field offices in the MIMAROPA Region. This training is designed to equip field personnel with the skills and knowledge necessary for conducting accurate and ethical data collection, using structured questionnaires and digital tools.

In Romblon, a total of twenty-four (24) enumeration areas from selected sample barangays across the province with 393 households will soon be visited by trained Statistical Researchers to participate in the 2025 NMS from 04 August to 01 September 2025. Their cooperation is essential in assisting government agencies and policymakers make data-driven decisions, particularly in areas such as labor migration, urban development, housing, education, and social services.

PSA Romblon calls on all selected households to participate fully and honestly in the survey. All information collected will be held strictly confidential and will be used for statistical purposes only, in accordance with the Data Privacy Act of 2012 and Republic Act No. 10625 (Philippine Statistical Act of 2013).
