05 March 2025, ROMBLON, ROMBLON. The Philippine Statistics Authority Romblon Provincial Statistical Office has shown significant improvement in terms of national ID registration during the first 2 months of the year.  

The operations was able to enroll 1,327 individuals, achieving 184% of the anticipated target registrants. This accomplishment is crucial to the intensified nationwide registration for the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys), as mandated by Republic Act No. 11055.

In February 2025, PSA deployed two operational registration kits to facilitate access in the barangays of Alcantara, Santa Maria, and Odiongan, despite challenges posed by unpredictable weather conditions. Odiongan recorder 749 total registration, followed by Santa Maria and Cajidiocan with with 364 and 131, respectively. Additionally, PhilSys registered 387 children aged 0 to 4 years under the Rehistro Bulilit program, enhancing the inclusivity of the ID system.

Since the launch of the National ID System in June 2021, PSA Romblon has successfully registered a cumulative total of 256,607 individuals, which includes 256,552 residents of Romblon and 55 individuals from other provinces. Also, in collaboration with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), PSA Romblon has facilitated 34,065 authentications for the beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) as of February 28, 2025. These initiative underscore the agency’s commitment to establish a secured identification system and streamline government services for all Filipinos.

The notable increase in registrants is a result of various initiatives implemented by PSA Romblon, such as the Rehistro Bulilit Campaign, mobile registration initiatives from local government units (LGUs), co-location efforts with the DSWD, and special registration events. The effectiveness of these initiatives is also credited to the dedicated efforts of Field Registration Personnel, who play a vital role in providing National ID services to the population of Romblon. Collaborative partnerships with stakeholders, including LGUs, Barangay Local Government Units, and other agencies, have further facilitated the onboarding of the target population into the National ID System.

Aside from national ID registration, PSA Romblon also provides national IDs in paper form to registered individuals. In February 2025 alone, PSA Romblon issued 316 National IDs in paper form through Mode 1, which allows clients to walk in for their IDs. The distribution of this National ID format is carried out in two ways: Mode 1 (walk-in) and Mode 2 (house-to-house delivery).

As of February 2025, PSA Romblon has provided a total of 44,166 National IDs in paper form through Mode 1 and has delivered 180,718 National IDs through Mode 2. This brings the total to 224,884 IDs issued since the program launched in the province in October 2022, and this number continues to increase as more registered individuals acquire this type of National ID each day.

Additionally, PSA Romblon assisted registered individuals on how to obtain their digital National ID, which serves as a valid ID stored on a mobile device. PSA Romblon continues to remind the public that printing of the Digital National ID in Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) is considered illegal and can result in fines under Republic Act No. 11055, along with potential imprisonment of 3 to 6 years for violators.

Further, the office also offers services to update demographic information for individuals needing corrections on their National ID. In order to update information, an individual needs to provide the original copy of his/her birth certificate. Updating of demographic Information is only done at the Fixed Registration Center (FRC), located on the ground floor of the Kadbayan Building, Brgy. Dapawan, Odiongan, Romblon, available from Monday to Friday at 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

The FRC also provides various services, including: a. national ID Step 2 registration for individuals aged 0 and above, b. retrieval of lost transaction numbers, c. printing and issuance of National ID in paper format, d. assistance with digital National ID, and e. updating of demographic information

To access these services, individuals should bring original supporting documents and valid identification. Parents registering children aged 0 to 4 must also be registered to the National ID, and has to bring the child's birth certificate. For those seeking to obtain their National ID in paper form, the transaction slip with the Transaction Reference Number (TRN) is required. If lost, registration officers can assist in retrieving it. If the National ID in paper form is unavailable, assistance to the Digital National ID can be requested from the registration officer.
