21 FEBRUARY 2025 – ALCANTARA, ROMBLON. The Local Government of Alcantara invited the Philippine Statistics Authority - Romblon Provincial Statistical Office as it held its Kasalang Bayan on 18 February 2025, with Hon. Mayor Riza Pamorada officiating the marriage among the fourteen (14) couples. The Kasalang Bayan principally intends to give impoverished couples  - who are cohabiting but cannot afford a wedding - the help they need and the rights that come with it, as well as the children they care for.

In frame, Mayor Riza Pamorada, Vice Mayor Galin, and ROI Fallarcuna, together with the 14 couples during the Kasalang Bayan.

As the solemnizing officer, Hon. Mayor Pamorada counseled couples to learn to love one another, be patient, and focus their relationship on God. She conveyed her appreciation to the Local Government Unit that made the event possible. Also, she emphasized that the activity is important for the couples to formalize their unions and have their weddings officially acknowledged while also fostering a sense of unity and love.

Engr. Mariel V. Fallarcuna, Registration Officer I, attended the significant occasion in behalf of the PSA to support the community-building undertaking, which strives to emphasize the importance of civil registration. The participation is part of the 35th Civil Registration Month celebration with a theme “𝘉𝘶𝘪𝘭𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢 𝘙𝘦𝘴𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘵, 𝘈𝘨𝘪𝘭𝘦, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘍𝘶𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦-𝘧𝘪𝘵 𝘊𝘪𝘷𝘪𝘭 𝘙𝘦𝘨𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘝𝘪𝘵𝘢𝘭 𝘚𝘵𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘤𝘴 𝘚𝘺𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘮”.  In her message, she offered her congratulations to the newlyweds, and she stressed the significance of marriage in the process of determining the legitimacy of those couples who have given birth to children outside of marriage.

The annual observance of CRM is pursuant to Proclamation No. 682 “Declaring the Month of February of Every Year as Civil Registration Month” issued by then President Corazon C. Aquino dated January 28, 1991.
