In Marinduque, six Local Civil Registry Offices work hand in hand with the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Marinduque Provincial Statistical Office to accurately document vital events such as live births, marriages, and deaths. These significant life milestones are essential for both individual records and broader demographic analysis. Their collaboration ensures the reliability of demographic data, which is crucial for policymaking and community development in the province. The proper registration of these vital events plays a fundamental role in governance, as it provides essential data for planning public services, allocating resources, and monitoring population trends.

Registered Vital Events 
From January to August 2024, the registration and documentation of vital events were conducted by Local Civil Registry Offices across the Philippines. In Marinduque, six municipal registry offices were responsible for recording these significant life events during this period.

Nationwide, a total of 583,277 live births were registered, with Marinduque accounting for 1,117, representing 0.2 percent of the total. In terms of marriages, 184,030 unions were recorded across the country, of which 533 took place in Marinduque, constituting 0.3 percent of the overall figure. Similarly, for mortality, the Philippines registered 304,135 deaths, with Marinduque documenting 879 cases, also comprising 0.3 percent of the national total.

Among these vital events, live births had the highest recorded number, both nationwide and within the province, highlighting its significance in demographic trends and population growth.

Registered Live Births by Month in Marinduque
From January to August 2024, a total of 1,117 live births were recorded in the province of Marinduque. As presented in Figure 2, January had the highest number of registered live births, with 219 cases, accounting for 19.6 percent of the total live births in the province. In contrast, August recorded the lowest number, with only three registered live births during this period.

It is also observed that from May to August, the number of registered live births showed a declining trend. In May, there were 189 registered live births, which significantly dropped by almost a half in June. The decline continued in July, with 61 recorded births, before reaching the lowest count in August.

Registered Live Births by Sex 
Regarding the sex distribution of registered live births, Figure 3 indicates that more male infants were born both nationwide and in the province of Marinduque. From January to August  2024, a total of 302,908 male infants were registered across the Philippines. Of this number,  575 were recorded in Marinduque, accounting for 0.2 percent of the national total. 

Similarly, a total of 280,369 female infants were registered nationwide during the same period.  In Marinduque, 542 female births were recorded, representing 0.2 percent of the total female live births in the country. The data show that the number of registered male births exceeded female births at both the national and provincial levels.

Registered Marriages by Month 
In Marinduque, a total of 533 marriages were officially registered. Based on preliminary data presented in Figure 4, covering the period from January to August 2024, the month of May recorded the highest number of registered marriages, with a total of 137. In contrast, July had the lowest number of recorded marriages, with only 39 ceremonies taking place. Furthermore, as of the available preliminary data, there were no registered marriages recorded for the month of August.

Registered Deaths by Month 
Between January and August 2024, a total of 879 deaths were recorded in the province of Marinduque. As shown in Figure 5, January had the highest number of registered deaths, with 161 cases, accounting for 18.3 percent of the total deaths in the province. In contrast, August recorded the lowest number, with only five registered deaths, representing 0.6 percent of the total.

Registered Deaths by Sex in Marinduque
According to Figure 6, the sex distribution of registered deaths reveals that more males passed away both nationwide and in the province of Marinduque. Between January and August 2024, a total of 171,258 male deaths were recorded across the Philippines, with 490 of these occurring in Marinduque, accounting for 0.3 percent of the national total.

Similarly, during the same period, 132,877 female deaths were registered nationwide. In Marinduque, 389 female deaths were recorded, representing 0.3 percent of the total female deaths in the country. These figures indicate that the number of registered male deaths exceeded female deaths at both the national and provincial levels.

The partnership between Marinduque's Local Civil Registry Offices and the PSA Marinduque Provincial Statistical Office plays a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and completeness of vital event records. These records serve as a fundamental resource for demographic analysis, public health planning, and policy development within the province.

In summary, the diligent documentation of live births, marriages, and deaths in Marinduque reflects a strong commitment to maintaining reliable demographic data.
