22.8 percent households in Naujan, Oriental Mindoro own other land

Based on the 2020 Census of Population and Housing (2020 CPH), 6,031 households or 22.8 percent of the total 26,504 households in Naujan, Oriental Mindoro reported that they own at least one type of land apart from the land that they own/occupy at the time of the census.

 

 

Among the 70 Barangays of Naujan, Oriental Mindoro, Barangay Metolza had the highest proportion of households with at least one type of land they owned other than the land they occupy, with 64.9 percent or 218 households. It was followed by Barangay Masaguing with 63.4 percent or 90 households, Barangay San Montemayor with 61.4 percent or 97 households, Barangay Masagana with 59.2 percent or 157 households and Barangay Magtibay with 57.2 percent or 87 households.

Meanwhile, Barangay Santa Cruz had the lowest proportion of households with at least one type of land they owned other than the land they occupy with 1.3 percent or five households in Naujan, Oriental Mindoro.

 
15.6 percent households in Naujan, Oriental Mindoro own Agricultural lands

Of the total 26,504 households, 4,141 (15.6 percent) were reported to own agricultural land/s. Households that owned other residentials land/s totaled to 3,076 (11.6 percent) while households that owned agricultural land/s acquired through the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP), as agrarian reform beneficiary reached 176 (0.7 percent). Only 15 households (0.1 percent) had members that owned other types of land/s.

 

 

Barangay with the highest number of households that own residential lands

Barangay Pagkakaisa posted the highest number of households that own residential lands, with 162 households, or 5.3 percent of the total 3,076 households that own residential lands in Naujan, Oriental Mindoro. Completing the top ten Barangay with the highest number of household in Naujan, Oriental Mindoro are Barangay Barcenaga with 161 households or 5.2 percent, Barangay Aurora and Masagana with 119 households or 3.9 percent, each, Barangay Evangelista with 107 households or 3.5 percent, Barangay Pinagsabangan II with 89 households or 2.9 percent, Barangay Magtibay with 87 households or 2.8 percent, Barangay Apitong with 84 households and Barangay Malinao with 83 households both with 2.7 percent, each, and Barangays Santiago and Melgar B with 77 households or 2.5 percent, each, of the total households that own residential land/s.

On the other hand, Barangay San Carlos recorded the fewest households that own residential lands with 1 household or 0.03 percent in Naujan, Oriental Mindoro.

 

 

Barangay with the highest number of households that own agricultural lands

The barangay of Metolza had the highest number of households that own agricultural lands with 199 households or 4.8 percent of the total number of households that own agricultural land in Naujan, Oriental Mindoro. It was followed by Barangay Montelago with 161 households or 3.9 percent, and Barangay Sampaguita with 138 households and Barangay Aurora with 135 households or 3.3 percent, each. Completing the top ten Barangays are, Barangays Evangelista and Pagkakaisa with 122 households or 2.9 percent, each, Barangays San Andres with 116 households and Barangay Apitong with 114 households with both 2.8 percent each, Barangay Santo Niño with 113 households or 2.7 percent, Barangay Masagana with 106 households or 2.6 percent, Barangays Malvar and Santa Maria with 101 households and Barangay Mahabang Parang with 100 households or 2.4 percent, each.

There is no recorded ownership of agricultural land in Barangay San Antonio, Naujan, Oriental Mindoro.

 

 

Ownership of agricultural lands acquired through CARP in Naujan, Oriental Mindoro

The highest number of households that own agricultural lands acquired through the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP) in Naujan, Oriental Mindoro was registered in Barangay Santo Niño with 21 households or 11.9 percent. It was followed by the Barangay Nag-Iba II with 18 households or 10.2 percent, and Barangay General Esco with 15 households or 8.5 percent. Completing the top ten Barangays that registered to CARP are, Barangays Gamao and Malvar with 14 households (8.0 percent), Barangays Bacungan with 9 households (5.1 percent), Barangay Piñahan with 8 households (4.5 percent), Barangay Barcenaga with 6 households (3.4 percent), Barangays Buhangin and Montelago with five households (2.8 percent), each, and Barangays Aurora, Bagong Buhay and Paniquian with four households (2.3 percent), each.

Meanwhile, Barangays Bancuro, Bayani, Dao, Evangelista, Andres Ilagan, Mahabang Parang, Melgar A, Pinagsabangan I, Poblacion III, Sampaguita, San Agustin I and II, San Andres, San Carlos, Melgar B had only one household, each, that own agricultural land acquired through CARP in Naujan, Oriental Mindoro.

 

 

Number of households that own other types of land in Naujan, Oriental Mindoro

The number of households that own other types of land was highest in Barangay Estrella with three households. Other types of land include those used for commercial, industrial, or recreational purposes. This was followed by Barangay General Esco with two households and Barangays Bacungan, Bancuro, Dao, Andres Ilagan, Mahabang Parang, Malinao, Pinagsabangan I, Piñahan, Santa Maria and Melgar B with one household.

The statistics presented in this report were based on the information provided by the respondent or any responsible household member who may provide accurate answers to the questions and give correct information about the household. Moreover, the number of households in this report excludes households enumerated as homeless.

In the 2020 CPH, data on the land ownership were collected by asking the respondents, “Does any member of this household own the following?


1. Other residential land/s;
2. Agricultural land/s;
3. Agricultural land/s acquired through Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program, as an agrarian reform beneficiary;
4. Other land/s.

TECHNICAL NOTES

 

The population and housing censuses in the Philippines are conducted on a “de jure” basis, wherein a person is counted in the usual place of residence or the place where the person usually resides. The enumeration of the population and collection of pertinent data in the 2020 CPH referred to all living persons as of 01 May 2020.
For land ownership in the 2020 CPH, the respondent was asked, “Does any member of this household own the following...?” This determines if the household has any member/s who own other lands aside from the one that the household is currently occupying. The data were collected using the CPH Form 2 (Common Household Questionnaire).

 

DEFINITION OF TERMS

 

Household is a social unit consisting of a person or a group of persons who sleep in the same housing unit and have a common arrangement in the preparation and consumption of food.

Agricultural Land/s refers to land/s devoted to or suitable for the cultivation of the soil, planting of crops, growing of trees, raising of livestock, poultry, fish, or aquaculture production, including the harvesting of such farm products, and other farm activities and practices performed in conjunction with such farming operations by persons whether natural or juridical and not classified by law as mineral land, forest land, residential land, commercial land, and industrial land.

Residential Land/s refers to All lands that have been identified and zoned as residential through the appropriate ordinance by the Local Government Unit (LGU) having jurisdiction over the area. These include residential lands within areas zoned as mixed residential and commercial or mixed residential and industrial (Source: RA 10023, Series of 2010).

Other Residential Land refers to residential lands that the household owns other than the one they are occupying.

Other Land/s include commercial lands, industrial lands, ancestral domains, and ancestral lands. The last two categories are distinguished from Torrens Title and other tenurial instruments granted by a government agency or by the court.

Agricultural land/s, acquired through Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program, Agrarian Reform Beneficiary pertains to land ownership acquired through Emancipation Patent (EP) Holder, Certificate of Land Ownership Award (CLOA), and
Homestead Patent (HP), Leasehold Contract (LC).
