Tagalog is the language generally spoken in 8,937 households in Pola, Oriental Mindoro

Based on the 2020 Census of Population and Housing (2020 CPH), Tagalog is spoken in 8,937 households or 99.7 percent of the 8,965 households in the municipality. Bisaya/Binisaya was the second most generally spoken language at home with seven households or 0.1 percent, followed by T’Duray/Teduray with five households or 0.1 percent. (Figure 1)

 

 

Other languages/dialects such as Mangyan-Buid, Alta-Kabulowan, Tagabawa, Tagakulo, Mangyan-Tadyawan, Batangan, and American/English were generally spoken in 13 households or 0.2 percent of the total households in the municipality. (Table 1)

 

 
Predominantly Tagalog-Speaking Barangays: Barangay Bayanan, Calubasanhon, Pahilahan, Zone I, Zone II, Puting Cacao, and Tagbakin

Of the 23 barangays in the municipality of Pola, Oriental Mindoro, barangay Bayanan, barangay Calubasanhon, barangay Pahilahan, barangay Zone I, barangay Zone II, barangay Puting Cacao, and barangay Tagbakin were the most homogeneous in terms of language/dialect spoken by their households, with all households generally speaking Tagalog at home (100.0 percent). Barangay Batuhan and barangay Matulatula followed with 99.9 percent. Meanwhile, barangay Buhay Na Tubig had only 98.2 percent of its households with Tagalog as the top language spoken at home. (Table 2)

As for the second language/dialect spoken at home, Bisaya/Binisaya was reported to be highest in the barangay of Buhay Na Tubig with 1.4 percent. (Table 2)

The third language/dialect spoken at home was Batangan. This was reported to be the highest in barangay Buhay Na Tubig with 0.4 percent. (Table 2)

In 2020, three households in Pola, Oriental Mindoro generally speak in a foreign language at home. This constituted less than 0.1 percent of the municipality’s total number of households not enumerated as homeless during the time of the census. American English, Japanese, and German were reported to be generally spoken at home in one household each. (Table 3)

Language/Dialect Generally Spoken at Home (2020 Census of Population and Housing)
