Oriental Mindoro Birth, Marriage, and Death Statistics for Fourth Quarter 2023

Birth Statistics

In the fourth quarter of 2023, Oriental Mindoro documented a total of 3,579 registered births, indicating a decrease of 248 births (-06.5 percent) compared to the 3,827 births reported during the same period in 2022. Conversely, there was an increase of 13.3 percent in registered births in the fourth quarter of 2023 compared to the 3,158 births recorded in the third quarter of the same year.

October recorded the highest number of births in Oriental Mindoro during the reference period, with a total of 1,216. November and December followed with 1,204 and 1,159 registered births, respectively.

 

 

In 2023, more males (6,678 or 52.3 percent share) were born than female (6,082 or 47.7 percent share), resulting in a sex ratio at birth of 110 males per 100 females. (Figure 3)

 

 

Marriage Statistics

During the fourth quarter of 2023, there was a significant decline of 19.1 percent (177 marriages) in the 750 recorded unions when compared with the 927 registered marriages in the same quarter in 2022.

 

 

In the fourth quarter of 2023, December had the highest number of marriages, with a total of 363. In comparison, October and November recorded 262 and 125 marriages, respectively.

 

Death Statistics

During the fourth quarter of 2023, there was a significant decline of 19.1 percent (177 marriages) in the 750 recorded unions when compared with the 927 registered marriages in the same quarter in 2022.

 

 

In the fourth quarter of 2023, December reported the highest number of deaths in the province, totaling 555. November and October followed with 491 and 446 registered deaths, respectively.

 

 

In Oriental Mindoro, males (3,284 or 57.1 percent share) had a higher number of deaths compared to females (2,468 or 42.9 percent share), resulting in a sex ratio of 133 males per 100 females. (Figure 6)

TECHNICAL NOTES

 

Live births shall be reported for registration to C/MCR not later than thirty (30) days from the date of birth.

Death or fetal death shall be reported to LHO within forty-eight (48) hours from the time of death and the LHO shall direct or cause the registration to the C/MCR not later than thirty (30) days from date of death.

Marriages that require the issuance of marriages license shall be reported to C/MCR for registration not later than fifteen (15) days from date of marriage. However, marriages that do not require a license such as marriage at the point of death (Article 27); marriages in remote places (Article 28); marriages between members of ethnic cultural community (Article 33); and marriages between men and women who have lived together for at least five (5) years (Article 34), shall be reported not later than thirty (30) day after date of marriage.

Any report made to the LCROs beyond the reglementary period are considered late and can be entered only in the civil register after the informant complies with the requirements for delayed registration.

 

DEFINITION OF TERMS

 

Live birth is the complete expulsion or extraction from its mother of a conception, irrespective of the duration of pregnancy, which, after such separation, breaths or shows any other evidence of life.

Marriage is a special contract of permanent union between a man and a woman entered into in accordance with law for the establishment of conjugal and family life.

Death is the permanent disappearance of all evidence of life at any time after live birth has taken place.
