24 January 2025 – SOFRONIO ESPAÑOLA. The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Provincial Statistical Office (PSO) of Palawan is conducting a saturation activity for the 2024 Census of Population and Housing and Community-Based Monitoring System (POPCEN-CBMS) in selected city/municipalities and barangays throughout the province, starting in the first week of January until the second week of February 2025.

The saturation activity aims to ensure that everyone is counted in the 2024 POPCENCBMS, guaranteeing that no one is left behind. The results of this census activity will serve as a foundation for evidence-based planning, policy formulation, and the implementation of programs and projects tailored to the needs of the community. Additionally, the data generated from this census will be instrumental in enhancing the quality of life, particularly for the most vulnerable sectors of society.

About 100 enumerators were hired across the province for the saturation activity, and they will strategically visit housing units in their assigned areas to identify and interview the target households.

In the municipality of Sofronio Española, dedicated enumerators traversed the rugged terrain of Sitio Tagbabanga in Barangay Abo-abo to reach the Indigenous People community. During the enumeration period from July to December 2024, some households were not interviewed because the entire families were temporarily away. This situation is typical in the area, as residents often spend certain seasons working on farms that are located far from their homes.
