28 July 2025 - FERROL, Romblon. The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) – Romblon Provincial Statistical Office successfully conducted the Presentation of the 2024 Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) Preliminary Results of municipality of Ferrol on 22 July 2025. The presentation was held at Ferrol Municipal Hall, with Statistical Analyst Joy Florence M. Motin and Assistant Statistician Reniel F. Fabro, leading the event.

The event was attended by ten (10) representatives from the Local Government Unit (LGU), who played an active role in its success. Leading the coordination efforts was Mr. Noli G. Muyargas, the Municipal Planning and Development Coordinator.

The delegation from the LGU included personnel from various key offices: the Municipal Planning and Development Office, the Municipal Health Office, the Municipal Engineering Office, and the Municipal Social Work and Development Office.

In addition to the technical representatives, the event was honored by the presence of three members of the Sangguniang Bayan: Hon. Maria Bella D. Prado, Hon. Nhiesel G. Teologo, and Hon. Nonito M. Blancia. They serve as the chairpersons of the committees on Social Services, Education, and Health, respectively. Their attendance underscored the LGU’s strong support and commitment to the initiative, particularly in addressing community development and well-being through collaborative governance.

In addition to the main presentations, SA Motin and AS Fabro took the opportunity to distribute variety of Information, Education, and Communication materials to the participants. These materials included visually engaging infographics and reference documents on several key statistical topics, such as the Family Income and Expenditure Survey, the Functional Literacy, Education and Mass Media Survey, and official data on Poverty Statistics.

Participants also received materials on the Provincial Product Accounts, which provide a localized view of economic performance, as well as the “Women and Men in the Municipality of Ferrol” publication, which highlights gender-disaggregated data relevant to local planning and development. These IEC resources were shared to enhance participants’ understanding of the presented data and to encourage the use of official statistics in evidence-based decision-making at the local level.

SA Motin encouraged the participants to ask questions or express their concerns relative to the preliminary results of the 2024 CBMS in the Municipality of Ferrol, Romblon.

The CBMS is a technology-based system of collecting, processing, and validating necessary disaggregated data, that may be used for planning, program implementation, and impact monitoring at the local level while empowering communities to participate in the process. The PSA shall serve as lead agency in the implementation of the CBMS.

The PSA's authority and mandate to carry out activities related to the 2024 CBMS are in accordance with Section 5 of Republic Act (RA)10625, also known as the Philippine Statistical Act of 2013 and RA 11315, also known as the CBMS Act of 2019.
