More than three in every five persons 15 years old and over in the MIMAROPA Region are part of the labor force

In October 2024, 63.4 percent of the estimated 2.15 million total persons in the age group population were part of the labor force. This level of labor force participation  rate (LFPR) in the region increased by 2.4 percentage points, from the estimated LFPR in October 2023 which recorded only 61.0 percent. Moreover, the region’s LFPR in October 2024 is 0.1 percentage point higher than the national estimate, which was 63.3 percent.
 

 

MIMAROPA Region’s employment rate down by 0.6 percentage point

Of the estimated 1.36 million persons who belong to the age group 15 years old and over an who were in the labor force in the MIMAROPA Region, 95.6 percent were employed in October 2024. This translates to an estimated 1.30 million employed MIMAROPAns.

 

 

The MIMAROPA Region’s employment rate decreased by 0.6 percentage point from the reported estimate of 96.2 percent in October 2023. Moreover, this regional estimate was 0.5 percentage point lower than the national estimate of 96.1 percent as seen in Figure 2.


Among regions in the country, Cordillera Administrative Region recorded the highest employment rate at 97.7 percent in October 2024, while Region XI (Davao Region) recorded highest employment rate at 97.1 percent in the same month of 2023. On the other hand, CALABARZON recorded the lowest employment rate in October 2024 at 94.3 percent while National Capital Region recorded 94.6 percent in the same month of the previous year.

Unemployment rate registers at 4.4 percent


Of the estimated 1.36 million MIMAROPAns 15 years old and over in the labor force, about 4.4 percent were unemployed in October 2024. This translates to a nearly 0.06 million unemployed MIMAROPAns. Unemployment rate in the region increased by 0.6 percentage point in October 2024 compared to the reported estimate in the same month of the previous year at 3.8 percent. Moreover, this regional rate has lower by 0.5 percentage point than the country’s estimate of 3.9 percent.
 

 

Across all regions, CALABARZON recorded the highest unemployment rate at 5.7 percent in October 2024. On the other hand, Region XI (Davao Region) recorded the lowest unemployment rate with 2.9 percent in October 2023.

Underemployment rate down by 2.3 percentage points


The region’s underemployment rate in October 2024 was estimated at 20.9 percent. This was lower by 2.3 percentage points from the reported estimate of 23.3 percent in October 2023. MIMAROPA’s underemployment rate in October 2024 translates to an estimated 0.27 million underemployed MIMAROPAns out of the estimated 1.30 million employed MIMAROPAns. Moreover, the regional underemployment rate was 8.3 percentage points higher than the national estimate of 12.6 percent. 

 

 

Among regions in the country, Region XII (SOCCKSARGEN) recorded the highest underemployment rate at 35.2 percent in October 2024. On the other hand, Region XI (Davao Region) recorded the lowest underemployment rate at 4.3 percent in October 2024.
