28 JANUARY 2025 - KAMANDUGAN, SANTA CRUZ, MARINDUQUE. The Provincial Statistical Office (PSO) of Marinduque, in partnership with the Santa Cruz Local Government Unit (LGU), successfully conducted BRAP Mobile Registration in Barangay Kamandugan, Santa Cruz, Marinduque on 28 January 2025. The initiative was led by BRC Shiela Mae D. Matining, with the support of Santa Cruz LCRO staff Crestituto Quimora, who were on-site to assist residents in registering individuals whose birth certificates had not yet been recorded in the PSA database. A total of five (5) residents benefited from the initiative, with their Certificates of Live Birth (COLBs) processed and prepared free of charge after completing the necessary steps for delayed registration.
In addition to the BRAP Mobile Registration, the event also offered National ID registration services to those who have not yet registered to the system. Philsys Registration Team members Ana Rosechel L. Rodelas and Neil Aldrin Pelaez facilitated the registration of the residents of the said barangay to the National ID system.
The event not only aimed to register and verify vital civil data but also focused on identifying individuals who were eligible for delayed registration under the BRAP. This ensured their information was accurately integrated into the PSA database for future reference. To raise awareness about civil registration, informative leaflets were distributed to attendees, providing valuable guidance on how to ensure their civil records are properly filed and maintained.
Through this collaborative effort, PSO Marinduque, together with the Santa Cruz LGU, has taken significant steps to improve access to vital registration services, promoting a more inclusive and well-documented community.
Launched in February 2022, the BRAP (Birth Registration Assistance Project) facilitates the late registration of birth records for individuals from marginalized communities, Indigenous Peoples groups, Muslim Filipinos, the country’s poorest sectors, senior citizens, and those living outside their birthplaces. This initiative is a significant milestone for the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), as it prioritizes ensuring that all Filipino births are registered with Local Civil Registry Offices (LCROs). In doing so, it also helps to ensure that individuals are enrolled in the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys), promoting greater inclusion and access to essential government services.
