\The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) will be conducting the 2022 Survey on Costs and Returns (SCR) of Palay Production in collaboration with the Bureau of Agricultural Research (BAR) of the Department of Agriculture (DA).

The data collection across the province of Occidental Mindoro for the first round will be on 25 July 2022 until 05 August 2022 in which the household samples were randomly selected through a systematic two-stage sampling scheme with the palay-producing barangays as the Primary Sampling Units (PSUs) and the Palay farming households as the

Secondary Sampling Unit (SSUs). The sample selection is determined based on the samples who harvested palay during the reference period.
The sample households will be interviewed face-to-face using a paper and-pencil interview (PAPI) by well-trained Statistical Researchers. In this regard, PSA Occidental Mindoro enjoins sample households to support the 2022 SCR of Palay Production by providing truthful and complete necessary information.
The 2022 SCR of Palay production will generate up-to-date data on the cost structure of palay production and the average use of materials and labor inputs. It determines indicators of profitability as well as the other socio-economic indicators associated with palay farming in the country. It also serves as benchmark data, needed in the database's annual updating on costs and returns of palay production.
Data items to be collected from this undertaking comprise: a.) basic characteristics of the sample farmer, the farm, and the farmer's household; b.) farm investments; c.) material inputs; d.) labor inputs; e.) other production costs; f.) production and disposition; g.) basic marketing and credit information; h.) access to support services; i.) problems related to production and marketing; j.) basic information on effects; k.) recommendations and future plans.
