PSA Oriental Mindoro Conducts the 2024 Census of Population (POPCEN) and Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) Map and Data Processing

08 October 2024 – CALAPAN CITY, ORIENTAL MINDORO. The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Oriental Mindoro is conducting the 2024 POPCEN-CBMS Map and Data Processing this October 2024. The agency is currently leading the implementation of the Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS), according to Republic Act (RA) No. 11315, also known as the CBMS Act. The CBMS, as defined by the law, is an organized technology-based system of collecting, processing, and validating necessary disaggregated data. This data is used for local-level planning, program implementation, and impact monitoring while empowering communities to participate in the process.
Meanwhile, the Census of Population (POPCEN), as mandated by RA 10625, also known as the Philippine Statistics Act of 2013, and Executive Order No. 325 encompasses the comprehensive process of gathering, compiling, assessing, analyzing, publishing, and distributing demographics data concerning the nation inhabitants. This involves enumerating and documenting the characteristics of every individual and institutional living quarter (ILQ) within a defined timeframe and geographic area. The simultaneous conduct of POPCEN and CBMS referred to as the 2024 POPCEN-CBMS, represents a cost-efficient strategy designed to update the population and social registry of the Philippines.
Data Processing is a major part of the quality assurance procedures for the 2024 POPCEN-CBMS implementation. It is carried out to ensure the highest quality of the POPCEN- CBMS data, in line with the PSA's data quality commitment.
There were 19 map data processors, 38 data processors, two shift supervisors, and two PSO clerks involved in the map and data processing starting this 08 October 2024. The map data processing will be conducted for 60 days while data processing will be conducted for 40 days.
The PSA is committed to delivering relevant and reliable statistics. Hence, the agency encourages the public, especially the sample households and establishments, to participate in the various censuses and surveys conducted by the PSA. The agency also assures the public that all collected personal information is processed in accordance with the law and other issuances.
