BOAC, MARINDUQUE- The Philippine Statistics Authority Regional Statistical Service Office MIMAROPA successfully conducted the Regional Dissemination of 2023 Official Poverty Statistics on 30 October 2024 at the Rojaz Events Place, Boac, Marinduque. The dissemination was attended by 48 participants from regional line agencies, local government units, and media.
Chief Statistical Specialist (CSS) Gemma N. Opis of PSO Marinduque welcomed and thanked all the attendees of dissemination despite rough seas due to bad weather caused by Super Typhoon Leon.
CSS Ma. Leizl L. Magbojos presented the highlights of the 2023 Family Income and Expenditures Survey (FIES). The presentation includes objectives about FIES, regional, provincial, and highly urbanized city results. Next, Statistical Specialist II Nicole Gabrielle H. Robles of SSSS-PHDSD presented the Official Poverty Estimation Methodology, which includes background, official poverty estimation methodology, and other poverty statistics.
Regional Director Leni R. Rioflorido presented the 2023 Full Year Official Poverty Statistics of MIMAROPA Region, which includes the source of data, reference period, data collection period, and sample size. She presented that the poverty incidence among families was estimated at 16.3 percent or about 133.34 thousand families in the MIMAROPA region had income below the poverty threshold.
On behalf of Regional Director Agustin C. Mendoza, PhD., of the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) MIMAROPA, Officer-in-Charge, Assistant Regional Director Bernardino A. Atienza, Jr. delivered the statement for the results of 2023 Poverty Statistics.
