17 January 2025 - CALAPAN CITY, ORIENTAL MINDORO. Philippine Statistics Authority - Provincial Statistical Office (PSO) of Oriental Mindoro conducted the Birth Registration Assistance Project (BRAP) Mobile Registration at Barangay Hall, San Antonio, Calapan City. This activity was carried out in partnership with the City Civil Registry Office to ensure the completeness and accuracy of the supporting documents of the beneficiaries. The Barangay Officials also assisted by contacting and informing the beneficiaries about the said activity.
As the lead agency, PSO Oriental Mindoro initiated and conducted the BRAP in the barangay. The main objective of BRAP is to ensure that all births of Filipinos are registered in the Local Civil Registry Offices and that they will be enrolled with the National Identification System, likewise to increase the level of civil registration, especially in marginalized communities such as those belonging to the Indigenous People, Muslim Filipinos and the poorest sector in the country and ensuring that they have their National ID issued which is a gateway for them to claim their social benefits and legal identity.
The mobile registration began early and accommodated ten beneficiaries who had not yet registered their live birth. Of these, four completed their supporting documents, enabling the printing of their Certificate of Live Birth. The printed certificates were transmitted to the City Civil Registry Office for the City Civil Registrar's signature and official registration.
The success of the mobile registration showed the eagerness and commitment of the PSO Oriental Mindoro, City Civil Registrar Office, and barangay officials in assisting citizens with the registration of their live births. This effort not only serves as proof of their existence but also affirms that they are part of the society.
