07 March 2025 - ROMBLON, ROMBLON. The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) – Romblon Provincial Statistical Office is proudly joining the nation in celebrating the 2025 National Women’s Month, with this year’s theme “Babae sa Lahat ng Sektor, Aangat ang Bukas.” This observance is aligned with the global commemoration of International Women’s Day (IWD) on March 8, which traces its origins to the early 20th-century women’s movements advocating for labor rights and gender equality.

The PSA Romblon staff are wearing purple shirts in solidarity with the 2025 National Women’s Month celebration. Additionally, the staff will continue to wear purple every Wednesday throughout the month to demonstrate their ongoing support.
In line with this national celebration, PSA-Romblon will host a series of meaningful activities aimed at promoting women's rights and welfare. These will include lectures and sessions covering a wide range of important topics such as women’s mental health in the workplace, women’s reproductive health, assistance for women in marginalized sectors, fire safety awareness, and discussions about Republic Acts that safeguard women’s rights. In addition to these educational efforts, the office will also hold a team-building activity and a closing ceremony to foster camaraderie and unity throughout the month.
PSA-Romblon is working in collaboration with various local and provincial government units, including the Local Government Unit of Romblon, Romblon, and the Provincial Government of Romblon, to ensure the success of these activities.
During the 1st Quarter Romblon Provincial Statistics Committee Meeting, the PSA also called on other member agencies to lend their support in executing these important initiatives.
The activities planned are designed to create a safe and empowering space for women, not only in the workplace but in every area of life. By addressing issues that extend beyond the office, the PSO aims to foster a holistic approach to supporting women in all sectors of society. The 2025 celebration marks a significant milestone in the ongoing global and national journey toward gender equality and women’s empowerment. This year holds special significance as it commemorates several key anniversaries in the history of gender equality in the Philippines:
• The 50th anniversary of the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW);
• The 30th anniversary of the Beijing Platform for Action (BPfA);
• The 45th anniversary of the Philippines’ signing of the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW);
• Three decades since the introduction of the Gender and Development (GAD) budget policy under the 1995 General Appropriations Act (RA 7845); and
• The culmination of the 30-year Philippine Plan for Gender-Responsive Development (PPGD).
This year, as we reflect on these pivotal milestones, we reaffirm our commitment to continuing the work of advancing women’s rights and ensuring a more equitable and inclusive future for all.
