04 July 2025 – KILO-KILO, SANTA CRUZ, MARINDUQUE. On 04 July 2025, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Marinduque Provincial Statistical Office (PSO), in partnership with the Santa Cruz Local Civil Registry Office (LCRO) led by Municipal Civil Registrar Ermelinda R. Rey-Recaña, conducted a Mobile Registration Activity under the Birth Registration Assistance Project (BRAP) at the Barangay Hall of Barangay Kilo-Kilo, Santa Cruz, Marinduque.

This initiative focused on registering individuals who do not yet have birth certificates, many of whom belong to marginalized sectors. BRC Shiela Mae Matining, together with LCRO staff Crisilda Quindoza, facilitated the registration process, ensuring that applicants complied with all necessary documentation for delayed registration of live birth.

To support this, Barangay Secretary Melissa Laslas assisted in preparing the required Barangay Certification and Certificate of Indigency, both of which were issued by Punong Barangay Jimmy Paez. His presence and support during the activity demonstrated strong local leadership and commitment to inclusive civil registration.

As a direct outcome of this initiative, Certificates of Live Birth (COLBs) were successfully processed for nine (9) individuals, enabling them to establish their legal identity and access government services.

The event was warmly received by the residents of Barangay Kilo-Kilo, who expressed gratitude for the convenience and accessibility brought by the mobile registration. For many participants, this was their first opportunity to secure vital civil registry documents without having to travel far from their community.

This mobile registration drive is part of a broader joint project spearheaded by PSA Marinduque PSO, PSA Regional Statistical Service Office (RSSO) MIMAROPA, and the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Santa Cruz. The overarching goal is to strengthen civil registration coverage, particularly among Indigenous Peoples (IPs), Muslim Filipinos, and members of low-income and hard-to-reach communities. Through the BRAP, eligible individuals are also assisted in registering for their National ID, a crucial step toward gaining access to social protection, education, healthcare, and other government services.
