AUGUST 2025 – BOAC, MARINDUQUE – The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Marinduque Provincial Office (PSO) is conducting the August 2025 Retail Price Survey (RPS) of Selected Commodities for the Generation of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) in two phases. The first phase was conducted from August 1 to 5, 2025, covering Outlets 1 to 6 across the province. The second phase is scheduled from August 15 to 17, 2025 for Outlets 1 and 2 only.
The Retail Price Survey is vital for tracking changes in the prices of a fixed set of goods and services commonly purchased and availed by Filipino households. The data gathered from this survey serves as a primary input in computing the Consumer Price Index (CPI), a critical indicator of inflation that supports economic planning, wage setting, and policy formulation.
The PSA provided training to six (6) Statistical Researchers who conducted price collection in selected retail outlets, including public markets, grocery stores, and other commercial establishments. They gathered prevailing prices of a range of commodities, including food and non-alcoholic beverages, housing, water, electricity, gas, transportation, and other essential goods and services.
The PSA ensures that all collected data is treated with the highest level of confidentiality, in compliance with Republic Act No. 10173 (Data Privacy Act of 2012) and Republic Act No. 10625. These laws safeguard respondents’ information and strictly limit its use to statistical purposes only.
