PhilSys Initiative Brings Essential Services to Remote Areas in Abra de Ilog

Date of release: August 06, 2024
Reference No. 2024PR-25

06 August 2024 - Abra De Ilog, Occidental Mindoro. The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) is pleased to announce the successful implementation of the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) initiative in Sta. Maria, one of the most remote areas in Abra de Ilog on 31 July to 02 August, 2024. This effort aims to ensure that all residents, including those in underserved communities, have access to the national identification system.

In a recent PhilSys initiative, a dedicated team from PhilSys traveled to Sta. Maria to provide registration services and support for the PhilSys. The initiative focused on children and their families, ensuring that even the most isolated communities could benefit from this essential service. During this visit, a total of 208 individuals were successfully registered for the PhilSys national ID, while 310 individuals received their electronic PhilSys IDs (ePhilIDs), further streamlining access to government services and financial systems.

Registered persons in the said locations were also provided assistance with tracking PhilID delivery, requesting the replacement of PhilIDs with peeled-off photos, accessing their digital national IDs and updating of demographic information, as part of its gradual implementation.

This initiative reflects PhilSys's commitment to inclusivity and accessibility, aiming to bridge gaps in service provision and enhance the quality of life for all Filipinos. By reaching remote areas like Sta. Maria, the initiative underscores the PSA's dedication to ensuring that no one is left behind in the national identification process.
