15 January 2025 - ORIENTAL MINDORO. The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Provincial Statistical Office of Oriental Mindoro has successfully registered 783,142 Mindoreños for the National ID, representing 86.22% of the target population of 908,339 individuals aged zero and above, as of 08 January 2025. This milestone was achieved through the collaborative efforts of the PSA Provincial Statistical Office (PSO), local government units (LGUs), and various community partners.

In order to reach as many residents as possible, PSA Oriental Mindoro implemented several initiatives, including mobile registration units, outreach programs, and community-based registration centers. These efforts aimed to ensure that residents, particularly those in remote and hard-to-reach areas, could easily access registration services.

The success of this initiative is a result of the collective efforts of our local government partners, barangay officials, school administrators, and other community leaders who have been instrumental in ensuring that Mindoreños are included in the National ID registration” said Charlyn Romero-Cantos, PhD, Chief Administrative Officer (Officer-in-Charge). The National ID is an important tool in enhancing access to government services and improving the efficiency of service delivery for our citizens.

Despite the challenges posed by geography and mobility, PSA Oriental Mindoro remains committed to reaching the remaining 13.78% of the target population. Efforts will continue in the coming months to ensure that no Mindoreños will be left behind in the National ID registration process.

Starting on January 20, 2025, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) will commence the continuous registration for the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) in the municipalities of Puerto Galera, Baco, Naujan, Socorro, Bansud, Bongabong, and Bulalacao. Residents of these municipalities are encouraged to participate in the registration process, which will involve the collection of biometric data, personal information, and other necessary details.

The National ID is part of the Philippine government’s ongoing effort to issue identification cards to all Filipino citizens. The initiative is aimed at streamlining public services, ensuring efficient delivery of government aid, and enabling access to various financial and social services.
