Volume of Livestock Production

Total livestock production in Oriental Mindoro took a significant dive during the second quarter of 2024. (Figure 1)

Volume of Production by Animal Type

Hog production in the province plummeted by 74.0 percent in the second quarter of 2024, reaching an estimated 2,778.20 metric tons liveweight. This represents a significant decline of 7,894.15 metric tons compared to the previous year's output of 10,672.35 metric tons (liveweight). Despite this decrease, hogs still accounted for a substantial 84.7 percent share of the province's total livestock production. (Figure 2)

Cattle production in the second quarter of 2024 was estimated at 277.35 metric tons (liveweight), representing a decrease of 77.40 metric tons or 21.8 percent compared to the 354.75 metric tons (liveweight) produced in the same period of 2023. This animal type contributed 8.5 percent to the province's total livestock output. (Figure 3)

Carabao production in the province totaled 199.23 metric tons (liveweight) in the second quarter of 2024, marking a 15.6 percent decrease, or 36.71 metric tons, compared to the 235.94 metric tons (liveweight) produced in the same period of 2023. Carabao production accounted for 6.1 percent of the province's total livestock output. (Figure 4)

Goat production in the second quarter of 2024 was estimated at 26.22 metric tons (liveweight), a 21.4 percent decrease, or 7.16 metric tons, compared to the 33.38 metric tons (liveweight) recorded during the same period in 2023. This animal type contributed 0.8 percent to the province's total livestock production. (Figure 5)

Volume of Poultry and Eggs Production

In the second quarter of 2024, Oriental Mindoro’s estimated total poultry production reached 2,380.32 metric tons. This represents a significant increase of 780.93 metric tons compared to the 1,599.39 metric tons produced during the same period in 2023. This growth was primarily driven by a substantial increase in chicken production, which accounted for 99.7 percent of the province's total poultry output. (Figure 6)

Oriental Mindoro's total egg production was estimated at 986.65 metric tons in the second quarter of 2024. This represents a 15.3 percent increase (130.64 metric tons) compared to the 856.01 metric tons produced during the same period of 2023. This growth is primarily driven by the rise in chicken egg production, which accounts for 97.4 percent share of the province's overall egg output. (Figure 7)
