WHEREAS, the Philippine Statistical Act of 2013, or Republic Act No. 10625, states that the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) shall be primarily responsible for all national censuses and surveys, including sectoral statistics, consolidation of administrative re cording systems, and compilation of national accounts;

WHEREAS, the System of National Accounts (SNA) is an internationally agreed standard set of recommendations on how to compile measures of economic activity in accordance with strict accounting conventions based on economic principles;

WHEREAS, the Tourism Satellite Account (TSA) is a standard statistical framework and the main tool for the economic measurement of tourism. It was developed by the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), th e Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), the Statistical Office of the European Communities (Eurostat), and the United Nations Statistics Division;

WHEREAS, the TSA provides information on the macroeconomic aggregates describing the size and contribution of tourism to the economy and provides detailed data on expenditure of visitors, detailed production accounts of tourism industries, and employment in tourism industries;

WHEREAS, the subnational TSA is the next step in the development of the TSA as it offers a more detailed perspective on tourism’s influence on the economy per region than a national TSA can offer;

WHEREAS, in line with the compilation of the subnational TSA in the MIMAROPA Region, administrative data will also be collected from the government agencies, local government units, and private sectors;

NOW, THEREFORE, ON A MOTION DULY SECONDED, be it

RESOLVED, AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, That the RSC MIMAROPA enjoin government agencies, local government units , and private sectors to provide data support in the compilation of the Subnational Tourism Satellite Accounts of the MIMAROPA Region.

RESOLVED FINALLY, That all agencies concerned be copied of this resolution for information and support.
