Endorsing the Refined Core Regional Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Indicators for Monitoring

WHEREAS, during the 52nd session in March 2021, the United Nation Statistical Commission (UNSC) has adopted new set of 247 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) indicators which is an increase from the previous 244 SDG indicators;

WHEREAS, PSA Board Resolution No. 09, s. 2017, titled "Approving and Adopting the Initial List of Sustainable Development Goals for monitoring in the Philippines" approves and adopts the initial list of 155 Philippine SDG indicators for monitoring at the national level;

WHEREAS, the international and national statistical communities have been periodically reviewing and developing the methodology for the generation and inclusion of appropriate indicators in the monitoring list to enhance the quality of indicators set and to ensure relevance for better policy use;

WHEREAS, on 15 February 2023, the refined list of 159 Philippine SDG indicators was approved and adopted by virtue of PSA Board Resolution No. 2, s. 2023 which comprises of 97 global SDG indicators, 36 proxy indicators, and 26 supplemental indicators;

WHEREAS, PSA Board Resolution No. 10, s. 2023 titled "Approval and Adoption of the Amendments on the Refined List of Philippine Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Indicators" approves amendment to the Philippine SDG indicators, which reduced the total indicators from 159 to 157 by reclassifying SDG 1.4.1.p6 (proportion of families with access to basic drinking water) and SDG indicator 1.4.1 (proportion of population living in households with access to basic services;

WHEREAS, RSC Resolution No. 2019-18 titled "Enjoning the members of the RSC MIMAROPA and other government instrumentalities to provide data support to the Core Regional Sustainable Goals Indicators" approves the list of Core Regional SDG (CoRe SDG) indicators and enjoined RSC members and other government instrumentalities to provide data support to the CoRe SDG;

WHEREAS, there is a need to refine the CoRe SDG indicators of the MIMAROPA Region to ensure the attainment of the goals and objectives of the MIMAROPA RDP 2023-2028, and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development;

NOW, THEREFORE, ON A MOTION DULY SECONDED, be it

RESOLVED, AS IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, That RSC MIMAROPA approves and adopts the refined list of CoRe SDG indicators of the MIMAROPA Region consisting of 75 indicators that will monitor 46 targets and 15 goals.

RESOLVED FURTHER that PSA MIMAROPA shall:
1. regularly monitor the CoRe SDG indicators in the refined list through the annual updating of the SDG Watch and track the pace of progress based on the approved measure through the PSA Board Resolution No. 05, s. 2020; and
2. initiate review of the list of SDG indicators, as the need arises, to allow corrections, developments, and emerging concerns.

RESOLVED FURTHER that all concerned Agency Data Sources (ADS) shall:
1. commit to provide the necessary data support to monitor the refined list of the CoRe SDG indicators; and
2. provide brief explanatory notes on the updates of the data series / data points, including updated metadata in case the following situations occur:
        a. previous submission is a preliminary data;
        b. change in the base year; and
        c. use of actual population count from the projected population count.

RESOLVED FINALLY, That copies of this resolution be provided to all concerned agencies and offices.

UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED.
